School's Out, My Child's Bored!

As a child, I remember watching the clock on the last day of school with great anticipation, counting down the *seconds* until I could enjoy endless summer days of swimming at the neighborhood pool, eating ice cream and reading books in the nook of the oak tree in my backyard.  It seemed however this bliss lasted about two weeks, and then suddenly the magic was gone and I grew restless with my swimming-ice cream-reading days.

My sweet mom always found creative ways to keep mine and my sisters' imaginations stimulated over the summer holiday by having us write and act out plays, visiting the duck pond and cooking new foods.  If you're looking for fun activities for your loved one this summer, the Houston-area provides plenty of outlets that are special-needs friendly.  Take a look and join a program, there's plenty of summer left!
